Practice Notes for August 2

Notes from the August 2nd practice session (recorded while still fresh in my mind):
・When receiving an attack with the arm extended horizontally, point the thumb upward.
Keep the palm of the lower hand horizontal, with the fingertips directed toward the opponent.
Keep your gaze level, looking directly at the opponent.
Relax the chest; focus your awareness on extending the energy from your fingertips, through your back, to the other hand.
Maintain the principle of "One Crown, Three Voids" (Itchō Sankū): the Baihui point (crown of the head) feels as if it is being suspended from above, while the hands, chest, and soles of the feet feel "empty" (open and unburdened).
・Focus on movements that maintain proper form (like those found in taolu forms) rather than movements aimed simply at knocking the opponent down.
・A technique for breaking the opponent's balance using the "Cloud Hands" (Yunshou) movement from the taolu form.

Positioning and use of the left hand
Cloud Hands; rotating the hand from the inside
